Commerce Kids Read!
Commerce Kids Read! (CKR) is a program of Commerce Library Literacy Services. This program is designed for children ages 7-12 that are having trouble with reading in school and need extra help. Children receive an hour of tutoring twice a week.

The goal of Commerce Kids Read! is to help children read more independently and with better understanding. Students are tutored in the following areas:

• Sight Vocabulary
• Phonics
• Word-attack skills
• Comprehension
• Writing

It is very important that children attend each class. Children who miss three classes in a row or a total of six classes in a session, will be dropped from the program.

If you have been informed by your child’s teacher, or suspect that he/she is having trouble reading, please call Literacy Services our department will provide more information on how to enroll your child in this program. If there are not enough volunteer tutors, priority will be given to the students who need the most help (lowest level). Children are assigned to groups according to age and ability. Children receive an hour of tutoring twice a week.
